Book Review | Everyone has a story | Savi Sharma
Summary and Background:
Everyone has a story is an inspirational romance that one can finish in a single sitting. The language is simple and very easy to connect with. One can definitely pick up one or two situations in the book that one can relate to. The book is fun, emotional and romantic.
Let’s go through the characters in this book. Meet Meera, an aspiring writer; meet Vivaan, an assistant bank manager; meet Kabir, a cafe manager and meet Nisha, a cafe customer. Their lives are intertwined. Every character brings so much life and story telling to the table. Each of them are very different in character; yet there is so much similarity in them that they give you a feel of what friendship looks like. I am sure you will fall in love with these characters.
Evaluation of the Book:
The title is apt. Meera is in search of a great story and keeps chasing Vivaan for it, she ends up realising that there is a story hidden in everyone’s eyes. She unknowingly becomes a part of the stories of others. Kabir, is so motivating. Someone who loves to share happiness, not just as a cafe manager who serves good coffee and treats his customers well but also at a very unimaginable level. Vivaan, the one who loves to escape, has a hidden story too. Throughout the book, the writing makes justice to the title.
We are so ingrained in our mundane life that we tend to forget that someone we are treating bad might have been hurt. We fail to empathise, we fail to see through their eyes. This book is a good reminder that every action or word said by the other might be a reaction to what they have gone through. We need to give time for others to make peace with a situation and come out of it.
The book just keeps flowing. The events are written in a very good sequence. There is continuity. You do not feel at any point that this could have been different or better. Except, one situation with Radha. Wondering who is Radha? Don’t worry. I am not going to give you any spoilers. Do read the book to find out on your own. Quotes from the book:
“It does make your days longer when there seems to be a problem everywhere you look.”
“You never know when God might need back the ones we love.”
“Not the end but the start, Not the strangers but the known, Not the hate but the love, Not the world but the me, I am scared of.”
“Everyone has a story to tell. Everyone is a writer. Some are written in books, and some are confined to hearts.”
“It was nearly sunset and the view took my breath away. It was as if a small child had found his mother’s painting palette and mischievously splashed all the different shades across a canvas.”
“Some pieces of life find themselves so attached to our mind that when they are gone, they remind us of themselves a lot more than before. Yet someday we will realize that every piece becomes blurry, every memory starts fading.”
“When you love, you have so much to be grateful for and to live for, but when you lose it, you go on with every single day as if you are just a shell. Survival is the only reason one is on this earth. It has nothing to do with the fact that you feel anything as powerful as love any longer.”
